Difficult weekend for Villeneuve in opening round of FIA Formula E Championship
27th, October, 2015
It was a difficult start to the new season of the FIA Formula E Championship for Venturi drivers Stephane Sarrazin and Jacques Villeneuve who finished the first eprix of the season in Beijing China in positions 9 and 14 respectively. It was a true battle from the beginning of the race with a lot of contact and a few collisions on Beijing's 26 lap, 17 turn 3.439 km track, the longest of the season, situated around the iconic Olympic Stadium, The Bird Nest.
Villeneuve began in 12th place on the grid and finished 14th after an unsteady race with a lot of gains and losses in position. "Today was difficult - we had a lot of trouble in preparation with the car in practice which left me with limited running for car setup and learning the track and during the race the dashboard consumption was wrong, I had to slow down a lot at some points during the race so it could regenerate which made me lose a lot of places. Overall it was a good experience, it is nice to get the first race weekend under my belt and understand how it works, it's a good experience to learn from for the next race."
FIA Formula-E Round 2 will take place on November 7th in Putrajaya, Malaysia.
